The Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association since 2015. Outstanding projects will be selected for representing HKSAR and their institutes in the national stage Challenge Cup competition late this year.
Led by Dr. Yu-Ting Huang with Miss Xinya Wu and Mr Chunlin Pang as the team members and supervised by Dr. Shien-Ping Feng, the HPS team, a spin-off company from the University of Hong Kong, has been awarded the Third Prize under the Category of Startup.
The team presented the Direct Thermal Charging Cell (DTCC) that can convert low-grade heat (<100℃) to electricity under isothermal operation. This technology is low cost, environmentally friendly and user friendly which is in the process of commercialization.
