Bio:

Tony Shien-Ping Feng is a Professor of Systems Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Before entering academia, he had a successful career in industry, working as an engineer, senior engineer, principal engineer, section manager, and technical manager at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the world's largest semiconductor foundry, from 2001 to 2008. He also served as a deputy director at Tripod Technology Corporation, the world’s top PCB manufacturer, from 2008 to 2009. In 2009, Prof. Feng joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Associate. He then started his academic career at The University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor in 2011 and was later promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2017. In 2022, he joined CityU as a Full Professor and currently serves as an Associate Dean in the College of Engineering.

Prof. Feng's research interest lies in developing additives and chemicals to engineer electrochemical systems and material properties for green energy and semiconductor manufacturing applications. His research has been well-funded by external competitive grants, as well as industry partners from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and the United States. He also collaborates closely with different companies to apply his research knowledge to improve manufacturing processes and product quality. Through his patented technologies, Prof. Feng and his team established two start-up companies.
